Duo Westklang
Spielfreude, höchste Präzision im Zusammenspiel und die Suche nach neuen Wegen vereinen das 2022 gegründete Duo Westklang.
Beide studierten an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln/Standort Wuppertal, sind Stipendiaten und Preisträger bedeutender Wettbewerbe und feierten ihren Auftakt als Ensemble mit einem Live-Auftritt im WDR3.
Daniel Ahlert (Mandoline) kann bereits auf eine langjährige internationale Solisten- und Kammermusikkarriere mit vielen hundert Konzerten zurückblicken, die ihn vor allem im Duo mit Birgit Schwab (Laute/Gitarre) auf renommierte Festivals wie z.B. das Bachfest Leipzig oder das Festival La Guitarra California (USA) führte.
Um das Repertoire zu erweitern, arbeitet er stets mit Komponist:innen zusammen und bringt die neu entstandene Musik zur Uraufführung oder spielt sie auf CD ein.
Auch Nicola Yasmin Stock (Gitarre) ist Widmungsträgerin zahlreicher neuer Kompositionen, insbesondere im Kontext ihres innovativen Left Hand Guitar Pieces Project (Musik für Gitarre mit der linken Hand allein). Ein wichtiges Anliegen ist ihr zudem die noch immer unterrepräsentierte Musik von Komponistinnen.
Darüber hinaus konzertiert sie solistisch weltweit auf Festivals, wie z.B. auf dem Kashiwazaki Sound Market (Japan) oder Guitarrea Garza Roja (Ecuador).

Duo Westklang
Their enthusiasm for playing together at highest precision as well as the search for new paths mark and unite the newly founded Duo Ahlert-Stock.
Both its members studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln/Standort Wuppertal. They have been scholarship holders and prize winners at important competitions and recently celebrated their debut as an ensemble with a radio performance live on WDR3.
Daniel Ahlert (mandolin) looks back on an international solo and chamber music career of hundreds of concerts that led him – mainly as a duo with Birgit Schwab (lute/guitar) – to renowned festivals such as Bachfest Leipzig (Germany) or Festival La Guitarra California (USA).
In order to extend and enrich the repertoire, he works together with composers and thus premieres the new music on stage or records it on CD.
Nicola Yasmin Stock (guitar) too is the dedicatee of numerous new compositions, especially with regard to her innovative Left Hand Guitar Pieces Project (music for guitar played with the left hand only). A matter of particular importance to her is the still underrepresented music of female composers.
Furthermore, she performs internationally as a soloist at festivals as for example Kashiwazaki Sound Market (Japan) or Guitarrea Garza Roja (Ecuador).

„Caprichos de Goya“
Der Radierungszyklus „Los Caprichos“ des spanischen Malers Francisco de Goya gilt nicht nur als satirisches Meisterwerk, er hat seit seiner Entstehung (1797-1799) auch zahlreiche Komponist:innen angeregt, die Bildsprache Goyas zu vertonen.In diesem Projekt spielen Nicola Yasmin Stock und Daniel Ahlert Werke für Mandoline und Gitarre, die von den Caprichos inspiriert wurden sowie Musik, die an Goyas Spanien erinnert.
Not only is the set of etchings „Los Caprichos“ by Francisco de Goya considered to be a satirical masterpiece, since its creation (1797- 1799) it has also animated numerous composers to set this artwork to music. In this project Nicola Yasmin Stock and Daniel Ahlert play works for mandolin and guitar that were inspired by the Caprichos and refer to Goya’s world of ideas.
